MMmmmm, street meat... looks delicious doesn't it?
On Chinese New Year's Day, there was a Lion Dance in front of a big deparment store called Takashimya.
This is done to bless the store with prosperity for the coming year. After the dance outside, the lions went
through the building blessing each individual store.
These guys are amazing, right? See how they jump together? It was amazing to watch!
We also took a trip to the east side of the island, home toTaroko National Park in Hualien. There are
beautiful gorges and mountains there. We stayed in some cabins in the village of Buluowan. Here's a link
if you are interested in seeing the place.

The cherry
blossoms were in
full bloom and they
smelled wonderful!
Here's our cabin. It was
really fun to have a sleep
over in the mountains. We
went for a walk the night
before and found huge frogs
all over the place!

We went to visit Jess' family during Chinese New Year in Jan-Feb 2009. We had a great time!
They really go all out over there. It's like a week long celebration. This year is the year of the ox,
so there were festive cow, bull, and ox decorations all over the place.
And, in case you are wondering, no, I dont' know
what it is. That's part of the fun!
