In Alaska, eligible residents can dipnet in certain areas. This
time we're at the mouth of the Kenai River in Kenai, Alaska.
During the outgoing tide, the fishers walk in a long line
downstream, then walk along the beach upstream to start
again.
Dipnetting on the Kenai
We camped over night so Cameron could fish the early morning tide. It was really fun!
By the next day, Cameron had caught 30 fish to fulfill our family "limit". Each head of
household is allowed 25 salmon with 10 additional salmon for each additional household
member.
So, all together we got 45 fish!
Whew! It was a lot of work! We canned most of the fish when we got home.
When I mention
"Redoubt" on the
video, I'm talking
about the big volcano
that's snow covered.
It's gorgeous all year
round!
